Five Ws and How…

Howdy !!!

There’s nothing easy about writing an intro for this site, so I just picked the good old-fashioned “Five Ws and How” (Who did What, Where and When, Why and How ?)…

WHO :

Me : My name is Max, I’m an IT Engineer & Software Designer/Developer and I’m passionate…very, very passionate…

I have actually lots of passions…too many passions, maybe, but it doesn’t bother me 😉 .

(Did) WHAT :

I embarked on “propping” (building prop replicas…even if I have always been a real poor handyman)…

WHERE :

Well, at home, in France (near Toulouse), in my veranda turned into a pseudo-workshop…

WHEN :

Since the beginning of summer 2017, during the building of props for my latest Halloween costume.

WHY :

I would say…“Because !!!!”… 😀

Actually I wanted to dressing up as Ash Williams, my idol from The Evil Dead saga, for Halloween 2016.

I was able to setting up a costume with some elements “more or less” similar to the original, but instead of the Groovy Right-Handed-Chainsaw I ended up with a shi…y toy that made me lose all credibility.

I was not really satisfied with that result and I wanted to make it better, so I decided to do a “teeny weeny little research” on the Internet…3 months later, I found some guys (slightly odd mad genius) who took a real chainsaw (same make and model than the movie) and modified it to look as close as possible to the movie prop…AND THEY DID IT !!!

Then I told to myself : If they can do it, why not me ?!?!

I stood up, I started up the “building site” and finally I loved the sense of satisfaction after “Starting a project from scratch to get something awesome at the end !!!”

Since then, It’s like some kind of drug for me : have to constantly come up with new accessories to replicate, both for myself and family & friends…

And since one thing leads to another, I got so caught up in the excitement, I decided to put this website up to publish my work (I think that there’s nothing wrong with showing off, otherwise why is this being done ??? 😉 ), but mainly to discuss about props but also, and above all, to learn new skills approaches to create new ones (I’m a little newbie, remember ?).

HOW :

Just Likeall those who don’t have industrial tools and are operating on a shoestring : some internet researches, a lot of imagination, a great deal of resourcefulness and an infinite luck (I can’t tell you how many times I almost broke an almost finished piece because of “one wrong move”)…

But enough small talk, I’m going to let you taking a ride in the pages and posts…and above all, don’t forget to leave your comments, advices and proposals…I assure you, my mind is open 😉 .
