Props : What’s this…?

In the audiovisual sector jargon, Props are replicas of real objects, used on stage or on screen by actors during a performance (“Theatrical Property”) or a screen production (“Movie Props” or “Film Props”).

Nowadays the term “Props” rather indicates more generally one or more dummy elements (weapons, jewels, equipment, etc.) to complete a costume for special themed events (Halloween, Cosplays, Murder Mystery Game, Live action role-playing game, etc.).

These ones are most often “props replicas” of props already existing and belonging to one or more characters from different universes (books, films, tv shows, cartoons, video games, comics, mangas, etc.), and there is a very strict rule : accessories must be hand-crafted by the the costume wearer (cosplayers’ reason to brag) and not commercially purchased.
